A Notary Public is an official authorized by the state to serve as an impartial witness to the signing of important documents. The notary verifies the identity of the signers, ensures that they are signing voluntarily and with full understanding. Notaries play a critical role in preventing fraud, ensuring that transactions are legally binding, and maintaining the integrity of various legal and business processes.

Remote Online Notarization (RON)
In 2020, Texas allowed Remote Online Notarization (RON) as a legal method for notarization via audio-video communication technology. This enables signers to be notarized without needing to meet in person.
Example: A person in Texas could meet with a notary virtually (via a secure video call), present their documents, and complete the notarization process remotely.
Why Use a Notary Public?
Notary services are important because they help ensure the legitimacy and authenticity of important documents. Some of the key reasons why individuals and businesses use notary services include:
Prevention of Fraud: Notaries verify the identity of individuals and ensure they are signing willingly, which reduces the chances of fraud.
Legality of Documents: Notarized documents are often legally binding and accepted by courts, banks, government agencies, and other institutions.
